WASHINGTON,
DC
- Sultry. Fluid. Powerful. Songstress Debòrah Bond breathes life
into music, with songs that enrapture and draw listeners into her universe.
With velvety vocals that drip with wisdom beyond her 26 years, Debòrah
blends elements of her idols Sade, Chaka Khan, and Anita Baker into
her own signature style.
Debòrah’s
captivating performances leave audiences breathless. With appearances
at the famed Black Lily showcase, the 2002 International Association
of African-American Music (IAAAM) Emerging Artists Showcase, and the
2002 Absolut Expressions Tour, Debòrah has wowed audiences with
her vocal, emotional, and physical expression on stage. Now she bares
her soul to the masses with her with her stunning debut, DayAfter. DayAfter
is a diverse collection of ambient soul. “DayAfter symbolizes
the feeling of enlightenment and clarity that a person develops the
day after they've been ‘awakened’, per say”, Debòrah
says. With rich instrumentals from her band, Third Logic, each song
comes alive with touches of world rhythms, downtempo, and groove-heavy
Brit Soul.
Guests such as saxophonist Craig Alston of Fertile Ground
add more flavor to the mix. Whether singing the blues on “Givin’
Up”, cherishing her lover’s presence on “Sweet Lullabies”,
dishing out sisterly advice on “Don’t Waste Your Time”,
or uplifting the spirit with “A Message”, Debòrah’s
powerful alto and passionate lyrics inspire love, hope, and growth.
“I’ve
known and felt music ever since I could remember. Music is all I’ve
ever known”, says the New Haven, Connecticut native.
She dreamed
of being a singer since the age of six, but didn’t think it would
be a reality until the summer of 2001.
While taking a break from studying
Journalism and Music/Vocal Performance at American University, she sang
at a New Haven restaurant. One night, a stranger approached Debòrah
and told her that she possessed an amazing gift: the ability to take
everything inside of her and extract it through song. That emotionally-charged
presence has been her hallmark ever since. Even
without music, Debòrah penned heartfelt songs. After hooking
up with drum and bass producer Godfather Sage in 2001, she finally had
some music to put her lyrics to. She went on to sing with hip-hop group
Rebels of the Lost Tsun, before spending a year with the hip-hop/R&B
band 420 Lauda. With
her current band, Third Logic, Debòrah found her true sound.
Her chemistry with “Funky” Chuck Evans, Robbie McDonald,
and Kinnard Cherry creates a telepathic music experience, allowing her
to translate their melodies into the universal language of song. The
future is bright for this rising star. Having been featured on the television
show 8101 in Washington, DC and on Tiffany Bacon’s "Inner
City" radio show on POWER 99 FM in Philadelphia, music lovers everywhere
will soon know and feel Debòrah’s voice. “I know
that God has put me here to sing”, she says. Indeed, hearing her
voice is a divine experience. Listen, and let Debòrah take you
into her world.
THIRD LOGIC
Third
Logic (3L) is a team of talented and experienced songwriter/producer/instrumentalists.
Combining personal elements of Soul/R & B, 70’s Acid Jazz,
and even Gospel,
these three men have never worked on a project that
has not completed this objective.
Effortlessly capturing the “live” sound quickly becoming
an absolute must for top Neo-Soul artists of today, while still maintaining
a modern edge, Third Logic’s main goal is to be a vehicle for
established and emerging artists, whether to be as songwriters, producers,
musical directors, or even live instrumentalists. From upbeat disco-funk
to classic R & B ballad, from neo-soul hit to grinding, steamy rare
groove, Third Logic does it all, and does it with polish.Though
voluntarily remaining for the most part behind the scenes, “3L’s”
reputation precedes them, causing them to be the most sought after production
team and back-up band in the Washington, DC Metro area.
As
of now, 3L enthusiastically backs DC based soulstress DeBòrah
Bond, both in the studio and on the stage. Their chemistry together
fully completes the “Sade – Sweetback” formula in
magical ways. This is evident on their masterful demo/EP “Debòrah
bond". For
